Dr. Wayne Ghesquiere is a Clinical Infectious Diseases, Tropical Diseases and Internal Medicine consultant in Victoria, B.C. as well as the former section chief for infectious diseases with the Vancouver Island Health Authority in Victoria, B.C. Wayne is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine with UBC. He is an attending physician at the Royal Jubilee and the Victoria General Hospitals in Victoria. He has an inpatient and a private outpatient practice in infectious diseases.
Wayne is the chair of the annual Infectious Diseases Update in Victoria now in it’s 26 year. Wayne is the medical director of the Nova Travel Medicine Clinic. He served as the Co-Site Director of GeoSentinel surveillance (B.C.) which is a joint project of the International Society of Travel Medicine & Centre of Diseases Control, Atlanta U.S.A.
Current areas of interests include clinical research in Hepatitis B & C antiviral therapy, new vaccines, teaching and presenting. Recent publications in peer reviewed journals include the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, Journal of Clinical Infectious Diseases, CMAJ, Gut, Hepatology and Open Medicine.
