Dr Tanja Redelinghuys is a family physician based in Vernon, British Columbia. She graduated medicine in 1996 from the University of Pretoria in South Africa and completed her Masters degree in Family Medicine in 2002. After working in public healthcare and trauma medicine , she moved to Fort Qu’Appelle , Saskatchewan, in 2003, to rural family practice. She headed west to beautiful BC in 2007. Her passion for education has led her to complete a master teacher certificate program at UBC in 2014. She has been a medical research program (FLEX) advisor and assessor for first, second and fourth year medical students and a rural family medicine preceptor since 2009. She provides family physician consultations on youth and adult ADD and youth mental health. She has a passion for in mental health, providing CME education throughout BC to fellow family physicians, most recently copresenting a provincially funded 3 module 7 hour program on anxiety, mood disorders using practice supports tools such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness along with medication. She has presented engaging talks on adult and youth depression and anxiety, ADD and chronic pain as well as mindfulness in medicine.
