Dr. Hauptman is a former pain consultant who worked in St. Albert, Alberta. Dr. Hauptman had extensive experience working with complex pain patients in two tertiary pain clinics in Edmonton. In addition to working as a pain consultant in St. Albert and Edmonton, Dr. Hauptman also had outpatient clinics in Vermillion and Fort McMurray.
Dr. Hauptman was one of the founding members of both the Pain Society of Alberta and the AMA Section of Chronic Pain. He has served as President of both organizations.
Currently Dr. Hauptman works as a family physician in St. Albert. He offers a wide scope of family medicine to patients from pediatrics to geriatrics with a special interest in respiratory medicine and migraines.
Dr. Hauptman is a nationally recognized medical educator. He has given over 1500 presentations to physicians and health care professionals throughout Canada on subjects ranging from asthma to COPD to chronic pain management. Dr. Hauptman has been involved in the development of over 50 Mainpro presentations approved by the College of Family Physicians of Canada. He also participates in student education in medicine, pharmacy and nursing.
Dr. Hauptman is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor with the U of A Department of Family Medicine.
Dr. Hauptman did primary care obstetrics for 10 years and has delivered over 500 babies. He still has consulting privileges at the Sturgeon Hospital in St. Albert
Alberta. Dr. Hauptman’s clinical interests include asthma and allergy medicine, COPD management, headache management and the management of complex patients with multiple comorbidities.
Dr. Hauptman is married and has three children. He likes to ride his mountain bike and enjoys hiking and the outdoors.
