Richard G. Soper, MD, JD, MS is a diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine, distinguished fellow of the American Soc. of Addiction Medicine, and is an addiction psychologist. He is the Chief Executive and Medical Director of the Center for Behavioral Wellness, Nashville, Tennessee, a regional behavioral healthcare provider. He is the author of numerous articles, book chapters on addiction and treatment, and lectures widely on a variety of topics including the recovery process, placement and treatment matching strategies, trauma, intimate partner and family violence; treatment for co-occurring disorders, and medication treatments for addiction. His academic work has focused on models of care and treatment outcomes for addictions. Currently, he serves on the National Association of Drug Court Professionals Board of Directors, Nashville Academy of Medicine Board of Directors, American Medical Association Opioid Abuse Task Force, One Tennessee Foundation, and several scientific advisory boards of medical companies. He is a Tennessee delegate to American Medical Association. He is a past board member of of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. Consumers Research Council of America and Top Doctors have honored him as one of America’s Top Physicians for each year, 2007-2023.
