Dr. Joel DeKoven is a Consultant Dermatologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto. He is board certified in both Dermatology and Public Health and Preventive Medicine, and has a Masters of Health Sciences degree from the University of Toronto. Dr. DeKoven is currently a consultant in the Division of Dermatology at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and the Division of Occupational Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital. As part of a unique multidisciplinary Occupational Disease Specialty Program, he is responsible for the evaluation of complex allergic and work-related skin diseases. He is President of the North American Contact Dermatitis Group, a consultant for the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board of Ontario, a member of the Centre for Research Expertise in Occupational Medicine and is a former AIDS physician for the City of Toronto Department of Public Health. For over a decade, he was the Director of the Dermatology Residency Training Program at the University of Toronto. He is active in resident training both in Toronto and at the National level and has been awarded Teacher of the Year. Dr. DeKoven has numerous publications and has been an invited speaker at many academic meetings throughout North America and Europe.
