Dr. Birman graduated from University of Toronto Medical School in 1980 and did postgraduate training in Internal Medicine, Respirology and Critical Care at various Toronto Hospitals. He was part of the original “Group of Seven” internists at Scarborough Grace Hospital in 1985. He practiced general Respirology and was Director of ICU until retiring from critical care in 2007. He retrained in Sleep Medicine in the mid to late 90’s and has been the director and Quality Advisor of a number of sleep diagnostic and treatment centres. He currently has an active office practice seeing consultations and follow-up patients for Respiratory disorders and Sleep Medicine and practices telemedicine to Northwest Ontario for Sleep Disorders. He interprets sleep studies for the North Toronto Sleep Centre and the Medical Diagnostic and Consulting Sleep Clinic in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
