About The Speaker

Dr. Bordman graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1985. He has achieved credentials in both Addiction and Pain from international societies. He has lectured on these topics throughout Canada and Internationally. He has mentored many other Canadian health care providers on Addiction and Pain. He has been an expert in court and for the Canadian Medical Protective Association on cases involving Pain, Addiction, and Long-Term Care. He has experience in Emergency Medicine, Palliative Care, Family Practice and Long-Term care, but his main professional interest is in treating Opioid Use Disorder and assessing Chronic Pain treatment in the complex patient. His personal interests include traveling and spending quality time with his grandchildren.

About The Speaker

Dr. Gerald Levine graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1982 and the University of Toronto Family Medicine School in 1984. From 1985 to 2017 he ran his family medical practice in Barrie, Ontario, and has focused on stress management, burnout prevention and mindfulness facilitation since 2006. He has conducted stress management/burnout prevention staff training for the Canadian Mental Health Association York Region, Canadian Mental Health Association Simcoe, York Support Services Network and Simcoe County Elementary Teachers Federation. He has also hosted workshops on stress management/burnout prevention for many family practitioners and specialists, the General Practitioner Psychotherapy Association of Canada, Ontario Social Workers Association, Georgian Bay Cancer Support Network, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit and many more.

CME AWAY® is pleased to invite you on a 6-Day CME program in Nashville, Tennessee. There are 2 presenting faculty—Dr. Joel Bordman does a significant amount of teaching regarding chronic pain and addiction. Dr. Gerald Levine has a special interest in physician wellness. They have developed a program that will appeal to both family physicians and specialists, and truly all allied health professionals. Their programs are designed to be evidence based with interactivity and attendee participation is strongly encouraged. Dr. Bordman will address the management of Chronic Pain, opioid addiction and management of Opioid Use Disorder. Dr. Levine presentations will illustrate how mindfulness can be applied to physician self-care, managing stress and improving communication skills. Day 1 | November 5 | Arrive Nashville, Tennessee

Guitar chords rising out an open window. Friendly natives and just-moved-here locals. History interwoven with music legends. This is Nashville, Tennessee’s vibrant capital. Put on your dancing shoes and step into the rhythm of America’s favorite “Music City.” Settle into your home for the next five nights -a new state-of-the-art hotel in downtown Nashville, close to Lower Broadway’s live music scene, a location that allows you to walk to most of the included attractions and activities.

Day 2 | November 6

After breakfast, join the opening sessions of your CME. We’ll break for lunch (companions included) and then be back in session for a few more hours. This evening, you will be free to explore the surrounding area and enjoy dinner (not included). Breakfast & Lunch included today.

Day 3 | November 7

Strike a Chord

Start the day by tracing Nashville’s country roots at the Country Music Hall of Fame, home to all things country, from steel guitars to trendsetting costumes. Peruse the mosaic of photos, film, fiddles, and fan letters. Continue exploring Nashville’s musical heritage at RCA Studio B, where an expert insider will give you a comprehensive look at the city’s oldest remaining recording studio. Here, the voices of Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, and other world-renowned vocalists practically echo through these venerable rooms. See where artists recorded their chart-topping music and get the chance to record your own hit! Then, coast through the streets of Nashville on a narrated hop-on hop-off trolley tour and see the main sights of the city, hopping off wherever you’d like to make the most of your free time. This evening, walk to the Johnny Cash Museum. Here you’ll be immersed in the life and legacy of Johnny Cash. Then, enjoy a welcome dinner at the Johnny Cash Bar & BBQ. Afterwards, take your time walking back to the hotel or stay out and enjoy some live music at one of Nashville’s many venues. Breakfast & Dinner included today.

Day 4 | November 8

Grand Ole Time

Venture out on foot for a short walk to a special place with a long history. Doris Day. George Jones. Louis Armstrong. Neil Diamond. These are but a few of the legends that left their mark on the historic Ryman Auditorium, the original home of the Grand Ole Opry. Practically feel the beat of yesteryear as you walk past the vintage concert posters and memorabilia. Enjoy an immersive special effects experience at the “Soul of Nashville” theater experience. Then, grapevine your way over to the iconic Wildhorse Saloon for a line-dancing lesson, a fun musical performance, and a hearty Southern lunch. After lunch attendees return to the hotel for their final CME session. Those not participating in the CME, take advantage of free time to explore before taking a seat at one of country music’s most celebrated venues. Tonight, enjoy a live performance as the Grand Ole Opry family welcomes you into their home. Breakfast & Lunch included today.

Day 5 | November 9

A Small Town with a Story to Tell

Head south to Franklin, where the past blends seamlessly with the contemporary. Choose how you explore because it’s your choice! Tour Carnton Plantation, a makeshift hospital during one of the bloodiest conflicts of the Civil War -OR-taste the local culture at Leiper’s Fork Whiskey Distillery, enjoying an expert-led tour and tasting. No matter how you spend your morning, gather in Franklin’s cozy downtown for free time on your own. Then, return to Nashville and test your culinary skills at a hands-on chocolate-making lesson at the iconic Goo Goo Candy Shop. Tonight, celebrate at a farewell dinner before making the most of your final night in dynamic downtown Nashville. Breakfast & Dinner included today.

Day 6 | November 10
