About The Speaker

Dr. Hatcher graduated with her MD in 1982 from Memorial University of Newfoundland. In 1984, she received certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada(CFPC) and in 1994, was certified with the Canadian College of Health Service Executives. In 1998, she received the Canadian Psychiatric Association’s annual Mental Health Awareness Award. In 2001, the College of Family Physicians of Canada awarded her a fellowship. She has been doing pain management for over 25 years. Her focus is on a bio-psycho-social approach to pain management. She does a significant amount of teaching in chronic pain across the country and is a physician assessor for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of both Ontario and Newfoundland & Labrador. She chairs a subcommittee for the National Opioid Use Guideline Group. She is a member of the Canadian Academy of Pain Management and the Canadian Pain Society. She is a committee member of the CFPC community of practice in chronic pain. She is an Associate Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at McMaster University and Chief of Family Medicine at St. Joseph’s Healthcare in Hamilton, Ontario.

About The Speaker

Dr. Gerald Levine graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1982 and the University of Toronto Family Medicine School in 1984. From 1985 to 2017 he ran his family medical practice in Barrie, Ontario, and has focused on stress management, burnout prevention and mindfulness facilitation since 2006. He has conducted stress management/burnout prevention staff training for the Canadian Mental Health Association York Region, Canadian Mental Health Association Simcoe, York Support Services Network and Simcoe County Elementary Teachers Federation. He has also hosted workshops on stress management/burnout prevention for many family practitioners and specialists, the General Practitioner Psychotherapy Association of Canada, Ontario Social Workers Association, Georgian Bay Cancer Support Network, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit and many more.

Explore the breathtaking scenery of Italy’s coastline, from the dramatic beauty of the Amalfi Coast to the charms of seaside Sorrento. Visit the renowned National Archaeological Museum and the monastery of Montecassino. See the ancient Greek temples of Paestum and discover Pompeii’s ruins. Stop at a local winery at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, learn how mozzarella cheese is made, and sip on some real-deal limoncello. Every day brings another incredible experience on your tour of Rome and the Amalfi Coast.

Effective immediately and until further notice, all guests will be required to bring one of the following: proof of vaccination (official vaccination certificate in paper or electronic form), proof of recovery from COVID-19 or a negative test result (FDA Approved diagnostic) for a test performed 72-hours or less from the start date of the tour with you on tour to verify information you will be providing to Collette when filling out the Wellness Declaration upon arrival.

Activity Level:

You’re an on-the-go traveler. You don’t want to miss a thing, so walking and standing for longer periods of time (1-2 hours) isn’t a big deal. You can navigate hills and uneven ground, climb into various modes of transportation (tuk-tuk, cable car, zodiac, etc.), and could possibly anticipate changes in elevation. You can expect some longer days balanced with free time to recharge or set out on your own adventure.

Day 1: Rome, Italy - Tour Begins: September 8, 2021

Your tour opens in the “Eternal City” of Rome! Tonight, join your fellow travellers for a welcome dinner featuring wines and local delicacies. Your home for the next 3 nights is the Hotel Imperiale. Today dinner will be included.

Day 2: Rome – Optional Excursion: September 9, 2021

On a locally guided tour of Classical Rome, walk over cobblestone streets and weathered passageways to discover famous sights such as the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and Piazza Navona. Recount the rich history of the Colosseum on an in-depth visit with a guide, walking in the footsteps of former gladiators and attendees. This afternoon, partake in your first CME Session. The evening is yours. Perhaps you will join an optional dinner in a popular restaurant, where you'll indulge in a hearty meal accompanied by wine and local entertainment. Today breakfast will be included.

Day 3: Rome - Optional Excursion: September 10, 2021

Make the most of a free day in Italy’s capital city. Perhaps tour the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica, taking in world-renowned wonders such as the Sistine Chapel and Michelangelo’s mural of the Last Judgment. Consider strolling through the Borghese Gardens for views of the city’s skyline or meander through Rome’s bohemian Trastevere district. This afternoon, partake in a CME learning session. Today breakfast will be included.

Day 4: Rome - Montecassino - Amalfi Coast: September 11, 2021

Journey to the Amalfi Coast, an iconic coastline of rocky beaches and towering cliffs. En route, make a stop at the Benedictine monastery of Montecassino, perched on a mountaintop that played a pivotal role in World War II. Discover its history while exploring the monastery’s ornate chapel, courtyards, and museum. In the afternoon, settle into the Amalfi Coast. Your home for the next 5 nights is the Hotel Raito. Before dinner, join in a CME learning session. Today breakfast and dinner will be included.

Day 5: Amalfi Coast - Amalfi - Minori - Amalfi Coast: September 12, 2021

Drive along the stunning Amalfi Coast, pausing for a peek of Positano with its pastel-coloured houses and pebbly beaches. Spend time in the town of Amalfi. A former trading hub, Amalfi is now a quiet coastal town of historic landmarks and a black-and-white marble cathedral. Explore on your own before continuing to Minori, where you’ll get to sample local specialties at a family-owned limoncello factory. Savour a traditional Italian afternoon break at a local café and pastry shop. Arrive back at your hotel and join in a CME learning session before an evening at leisure. Today breakfast will be included.

Day 6: Amalfi Coast - Sorrento - Farmhouse lunch - Amalfi Coast: September 13, 2021

Begin your day exploring the popular and charming resort town of Sorrento. Wander through the narrow streets of the city centre, perhaps exploring the peaceful courtyard of St. Francis Church or sampling some gelato made with local lemons. Visit a local farm and see how traditional mozzarella cheese is made by hand. Get a taste of the product at a farm-to-table lunch before returning to your hotel in the late afternoon for a CME learning session. Today breakfast and lunch will be included.

Day 7: Amalfi Coast - Optional Excursion: September 14, 2021

Enjoy a day at leisure to take in the relaxing beauty of the Amalfi Coast. Perhaps you will embark on an optional boat trip (weather permitting) to the Mediterranean isle of Capri, where you’ll enjoy a locally guided tour with lunch before setting out on your own adventure. Today breakfast will be included.

Day 8: Amalfi Coast - Pompeii - Winery - Amalfi Coast: September 15, 2021

Experience the excavated ruins of Pompeii at the foothills of Mount Vesuvius. On an in-depth historical tour with a local guide, see the eerily preserved buildings of this 2,000-year-old Roman town. At the foot of Mount Vesuvius, stop at a local winery to savour the famous Lacryma Christi wines and enjoy a typical Neapolitan lunch. After your final CME learning session, join your fellow travellers for a farewell dinner and bid salute to the end of your Italian getaway. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.

Day 9: Amalfi Coast - Tour Ends: September 16, 2021
