He is an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at McGill Medical School and an associate physician in the Department of Family Medicine at St Mary’s Hospital. He is also an attending physician at the Royal Victoria and Montreal General Hospitals in the Emergency Department. Dr. Shulman is a medical representative on the Ethics Review Committee for the Institutional Review Board Services and is also a lecturer at McGill Medical School and a medical conference speaker (McGill Practical Course in Emergency Medicine; Canadian and Quebec Association of Emergency Physician Scientific Congresses).
Dr. Hatcher graduated with her MD in 1982 from Memorial University of Newfoundland. In 1984, she received certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada(CFPC) and in 1994, was certified with the Canadian College of Health Service Executives. In 1998, she received the Canadian Psychiatric Association’s annual Mental Health Awareness Award. In 2001, the College of Family Physicians of Canada awarded her a fellowship. She has been doing pain management for over 25 years. Her focus is on a bio-psycho-social approach to pain management. She does a significant amount of teaching in chronic pain across the country and is a physician assessor for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of both Ontario and Newfoundland & Labrador. She chairs a subcommittee for the National Opioid Use Guideline Group. She is a member of the Canadian Academy of Pain Management and the Canadian Pain Society. She is a committee member of the CFPC community of practice in chronic pain. She is an Associate Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at McMaster University and Chief of Family Medicine at St. Joseph’s Healthcare in Hamilton, Ontario.
This course is designed for family physicians, specialists, and allied health care professionals. The aim is to provide evidence-based material, as well as practical and relevant clinical pearls that will be easy to implement into one’s own medical practice. Conference attendees will be invited to complete a pre-course Needs Assessment to assist the faculty with the development of their presentations.

Day 2 / This morning, attend the opening conference sessions. The afternoon is at leisure. Start your evening with an interactive Djembe drumming session which will get you in tune with our African rhythms and songs for the rest of the night. Day 3 / After breakfast enjoy a private full day Cape Peninsula tour with sundowners on Table Mountain. Day 4 / This morning take the ferry from the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront to Robben Island for a moving half day experience to see where Nelson Mandela spent many years imprisoned. ! Day 5 / Attend a morning conference session. This afternoon you will be taken on a Township tour and a visit to the Amy Biehl Foundation. After a visit to the District Six Museum, the tour continues on to Langa, where you will have the opportunity to meet and interact with local residents. Strolling through Langa Township, pop in to a local market, an Arts & Crafts center and experience the warm hospitality at a local Bed & Breakfast as well as a crèche that provides local children with a haven and fun environment. . Day 6 / It is time to say goodbye to beautiful Cape Town as you are transferred by road from your hotel in Cape Town to Le Franschhoek Hotel & Spa in the picturesque Cape Winelands region. Set out for lunch at lunch at Café Bon Bon at La Petite Dauphine before your afternoon Winelands tour. Savour the area’s historical charm, culture and architectural heritage. Apart from the fine wine estates, you may discover a variety of local cheeses, olives and olive oil. And of course, you will be able to purchase your favourite wine to take back home! Day 7 / Attend a morning conference session. This afternoon enjoy another Winelands tour in the magnificent winelands region with its classic Cape-Dutch homesteads, scenic mountainous vistas, picturesque towns and fine restaurants. Day 8 / It is time to say goodbye to the beautiful Winelands region as you are transferred to Cape Town Airport for your flight to Hoedspruit to begin your safari experience. The 5-star Kapama River Lodge is stylishly furnished and beautifully positioned along a dry riverbed. The ambience of nature is captured perfectly and guests fall in love with River Lodge the moment they arrive. The 5-star Southern Camp is situated in the south of Kapama Private Game Reserve, a Big Five game reserve located adjacent to the Kruger National Park.
