Dr. Brian Jafine graduated with a Bachelor of Science and received his DDS degree from the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry in Ontario, Canada. He has been a practicing Endodontist for 30 years, and received his post graduate degree in Endodontics from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. Dr. Jafine’s emphasis is on patient comfort, as well as keeping up-to-date with the latest advancement in endodontic techniques, enabling him to provide the best quality of care for his patients. He has a wide range of experience in different areas of endodontics, from root canal treatments to microsurgery. His expertise is also frequently called upon by referring dentists for endodontic retreatment. Dr. Jafine is a member of the Canadian and Ontario Dental Associations, as well as the American Association of Endodontics. He is also a member, and has served as President, of three specialty organization: the Canadian Academy of Endodontics, the Ontario Society of Endodontists and the George Hare Endodontic Study Club. Dr. Jafine’s specialty practice, Partners in Endodontics, strives to utilize the best in current sterilization and endodontic treatment techniques. Specialty equipment in his two office locations includes surgical operating microscopes and digital radiography systems in order to provide the optimum in endodontic care for patients requiring root canal treatment.

Carol is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine (Endocrinology) at Memorial University in St. John’s, NL, and is in clinical practice at Proactive Wellness and Prevention, also in St. John’s.

Carol is a graduate of Dalhousie University Medical School in Halifax, NS, did an Internal Medicine residency at Memorial University, and then completed her fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Toronto.

Carol has been on faculty at Memorial University since 1985. She is former Division Chief of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism.

Research interests have included: evaluation of new diabetes treatments, prevention of Type 2 diabetes, prevention and treatment of diabetes complications, the epidemiology of osteoporosis, and the genetics of multiple endocrine neoplasia syndromes.

Carol is also past chair of the Royal College examination board in Endocrinology and Metabolism.

The River Countess underwent a complete design renovation in 2020, debuting as the S.S. La Venezia to bring guests an enhanced luxury experience inspired by Northern Italy. The redesign of the S.S. There’s not a better way to see all that the area around Venice has to offer. Only small ships can now enter the Venice lagoon area. The S.S. La Venezia will dock within easy walking to all major attractions. Highlights include a private evening opening and lighting ceremony at St. Mark’s Basilica. Depart the enchanting “City of Water” to explore the waterfront shops, colourful facades and peaceful canals unique to Burano, Mazzorbo and Torcello. Farther south, discover Chioggia – a charming southern port loved by fishermen, artists and anyone looking for unique gifts or souvenirs. Enjoy additional shopping time in “bountiful” Bologna and medieval Padua, once home to Galileo and Copernicus. Visit the Anatomical School of Padua, founded in 1222 and known for preserving the history of modern medicine.  

Day 1 | Sunday, May 28, 2023 | Venice (Embark)

(Embark) Arrive at Venice Marco Polo International Airport, where you will be transferred to the ship. Unpack, relax and enjoy your first evening on the Venetian Lagoon and getting to know the completely redesigned and renovated S.S. La Venezia.  

Day 2 | Monday, May 29, 2023 | Venice

With your early morning arrival at Doge’s Palace, you’ll be able to marvel at the estate in total peace. Wander through a Venetian neighborhood and experience daily life in an authentic Venetian residential quarter. After lunch, we will enjoy our first CME sessions. Later in the evening, after dinner, cap the day off with a private once-in-a-lifetime experience at an after-hours lighting ceremony inside St. Mark’s Basilica without the crowds.  

Day 3 | Tuesday, May 30, 2023 | Venice, Mazzorobo (Burano)

This morning, we take a short drive to Padua and visit the University of Padua, Italy’s second oldest university. We will have a guided tour of the Anatomical School of Padua, pointing out the many historical significances. We head back to the ship for an afternoon CE session. A special Captain’s Welcome Reception and dinner will be prepared for you this evening.  

Day 4 | Wednesday, May 31, 2023 | Mazzorbo, Burano, Chioggia

Spend the day exploring the northern lagoon of Venice and its captivating islands. Start with a visit to Torcello's famous basilica with an art historian, then stroll through the agricultural island of Mazzorbo and the rainbow-hued island of Burano during your free time after lunch. Alternatively, you can take the afternoon to see the renowned glassblowing artisans of Murano at work.  

Day 5 | Thursday, June 1, 2023 | Chioggia

Today, you’ll admire the greatest sites of charming and coastal Chioggia, including a stop at the local and lively market.  

Day 6 | Friday, June 2, 2023 | Chioggia, Venice

This morning, join a sailing excursion where you’ll explore the Po Delta where the Po River and the Adriatic Sea meet. Later, during lunch, we sail back to Venice.  

Day 7 | Saturday, June 3, 2023 | Venice

As your water taxi glides past narrow side canals and the Canal Grande, you’ll arrive in style at the Rialto Bridge. The iconic stone arch bridge sits at the narrowest point of the Canal Grande and holds numerous shops and restaurants.  

Day 8 | Sunday, June 4, 2023 | Venice (Disembark)

Disembark the ship and head to the airport for your flight home or onward journey.
