About The Speaker

Doctor Michael Gagnon graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2004 with Honours and went on to complete his residency in Family Medicine in Abington Pennsylvania where he took an interest in Palliative care.
Doctor Gagnon has been practising family medicine in Bolton for 19 years now and Medical Director of Bethell Hospice since 2012. He has worked within the community to normalize death and dying and has partnered with local schools to educate and support students to remove the stigma of palliative care.  He is a LEAP (learning essential approaches to palliative and end of life care) facilitator and coach. Doctor Gagnon has mentored numerous local physicians and residents, increasing the local palliative care capacity in his community.  Dr Gagnon teaches family medicine residents from both University of Toronto and Toronto Metropolitan University.

He is a former member of the board of directors of the Ontario College of Family physicians (2021-2026),  and is actively involved in his local Ontario health team as the Lead of the Primary Care Network.

Dr. Devina Wadhwa is a Canadian psychiatrist, speaker, and writer practicing in Northern Ontario, with additional locum work across Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. Her clinical work spans emergency psychiatry, inpatient psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, and rural and remote mental health care. Originally trained as a pharmacist at the University of British Columbia, she later completed medical school at the University of British Columbia and psychiatry residency training at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Wadhwa is an Assistant Professor at NOSM University and an Examiner for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. She is increasingly recognized for her work exploring physician wellness, burnout, grief, mindfulness, and the human side of medicine. Her writing and commentary have appeared in KevinMD, Healthy Debate, Doctors on Social Media (SoMeDocs), and other medical humanities platforms.

A certified yoga teacher trained in Vinyasa, Yin, and Kundalini yoga, as well as a mindfulness practitioner, Dr. Wadhwa brings a practical and deeply human approach to her presentations. Her talks blend evidence-based psychiatry with reflective discussion on resilience, meaning, and sustainable practice in modern medicine.
