About The Speaker
Dr Curtis graduated from U of T Medical School, where she was awarded the Cody Gold Medal. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency in London, Ontario, where she was Chief Resident at University Hospital. She returned to Toronto for her Dermatology Residency and is now part of a downtown dermatology group practice. She is a Lecturer at U of T and has medical students and family medicine residents in her private office. She did consults at the University Health Network for many years and ran the Women’s College Dermatology Laser Center. She continues to teach laser to the dermatology residents and maintains a busy general and cosmetic dermatology practice.

About The Speaker
Dr. Mitch Shulman (or “Dr Mitch” as he’s known to those who follow him on radio, TV and in print) has always loved teaching. He’s an Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at McGill and an attending physician in the emergencies of the 2 campuses of the McGill University Health System teaching medical students and residents. He has presented at McGill’s Thursday Evening Lecture series and its Lunchtime Webinars, at the McGill Refresher Course for Family Physicians and at many other professional meetings. He’s an ACLS Master Instructor. He’s also actively engaged in educating the public. He appears daily on Bell Media Radio, weekly on Global TV’s, Montreal This Morning and is an award-winning columnist with a weekly column in the largest English language weekly in Quebec, The Suburban. He volunteers his time speaking at many charitable events.
After completing his undergraduate training at Harvard, he came back home to Montreal to attend McGill Medical School and then did a residency in Emergency Medicine (where he was Chief Resident). He was among the first Royal College certified Emergency Medicine specialists (1983) and served as an examiner for the Royal College. He was acting Director of the Emergency Department and served as its Research Director. He’s been a community doc and an occupational health physician. Currently, as well as his emergency department clinical responsibilities, he also serves as a medical scientist on an ethics review committee and works at the McGill Student Health Center. His commitment to his community runs deep. He was its Medical Director responsible for First Response and coached hockey to the Junior level. He still refs local ice hockey and plays. His philosophy on teaching has always been that we all have valuable knowledge to share and so he sincerely looks forward to hearing from you as we share the learning at this Sea Courses event.

About The Speaker
Dr. Blake Woodside is an expert in the treatment of severe eating disorders, and their common comorbidities. Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, he has been treating patients and engaged in the development of new treatments for eating disorders and their common comorbidities, such as depression, obsessive compulsive disorders and post traumatic stress disorder for many years. He is also a trained Marital and Family Therapist, and is a clinical member and approved supervisor of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. He lives in Toronto with his three surviving children, and his wife who is also faculty at this course.

Note: The itineraries presented are subject to modification due to water levels, closures because of public holidays or other uncontrollable factors. Every effort will be made to operate programs as planned, but changes may still be necessary throughout the cruise. This day-to-day schedule is subject to change. Your final day-to-day schedule will be provided onboard on the first day of your cruise. Many days start early to avoid the heat and traffic congestion, especially in Cairo.
Day 1 | Saturday, November 4, 2023 | Cairo (Arrive)
Arrive at Cairo International Airport. A Uniworld representative will be on hand to greet you and escort you to the Nile Ritz Carlton.
Day 2 | Sunday, November 5, 2023 | Cairo
The ancient quarter of Cairo is intense—the colors, the sounds, the density of people—and it’s likely been this way for thousands of years. Your local Uniworld Egyptologist will show you a 12th-century citadel, the beautiful Alabaster Mosque and an unsurpassed collection of priceless artifacts in the Egyptian Museum, including mind-boggling treasures once buried with the boy king Tutankhamen. Featured Excursion: Citadel of Salah al-Din, Alabaster Mosque and Egyptian Museum Note: Dressing modestly is recommended as a show of respect for the culture and customs of the Egyptian people. In particular, women should ensure that shoulders are covered and legs are concealed at least to the knee on all shore excursions throughout this itinerary.
Day 3 | Monday, November 6, 2023 | Cairo, Fly to Luxor (Embark) Cruising the Nile River, Dendera
Our flight to Luxor departs early in the morning to take advantage of more favorable weather and traffic conditions, and to optimize tour scheduling. On arrival in Luxor, prepare to be amazed at the legendary Temple of Karnak, a massive and absolutely astounding site, with gigantic columns, broad avenues lined with stone sphinxes and halls of truly epic proportions. After this visit, board the River Tosca and set sail for Dendera. This evening, you’ll revel in a Welcome Reception and Dinner onboard. Featured Excursion: Temple at Karnak
Day 4 | Tuesday, November 7, 2023 | Dendera, Cruising the Nile River, Luxor
Early in the morning, visit the Dendera Temple, one of the best preserved temples in Egypt. Then depart for Luxor and a late afternoon visit to the Temple of Luxor, which stands on the site of ancient Thebes, the once flourishing capital of Egypt’s New Kingdom. It was built over hundreds ago and even in ruins it is still an extraordinary place. Featured Excursions: Temple of Dendera Temple of Luxor
Day 5 | Wednesday, November 8, 2023 | Luxor, Kom Ombo
The word “colossal” will take on a whole new meaning after today’s excursion to the gigantic twin statues known as the Colossi of Memnon. And that’s just the beginning—you’ll also visit the temple of one of Egypt’s rare female pharaohs as well as the Valley of the Kings, used as a royal burial place for nearly 500 years and where the mummified remains of Tutankhamen are on display. Visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to a crocodile god, (don’t miss the display of some of the 300 mummified crocs found in the local area). Day 7 | Friday, November 10, 2023 | Aswan
Today is an epic day, filled with wonders from start to finish. You’ll visit a marvel of modern engineering—the Aswan High Dam—as well as the Unfinished Obelisk and the beautiful Philae Temple complex, which was moved from one island to another back in the 1970s. But wait, there’s more. You’ll also take a ride in a felucca—a traditional Egyptian sailboat—and enjoy afternoon tea at the famous hotel depicted in Agatha Christie’s novel Death on the Nile. Featured Excursions: Boat ride in traditional Nile River felucca and afternoon tea at the Old Cataract Hotel Aswan Aswan High Dam, Unfinished Obelisk and Temple of Isis After dinner onboard this evening, you’ll be treated to an enchanting Nubian show featuring traditionally attired performers, live music and dancing.
Day 8 | Saturday, November 11, 2023 | Aswan, Cruising the Nile River, Edfu
Early today you have the option to fly to visit the magnificent Great Temples of Abu Simbel (additional cost). They took 20 years to build and are considered to be one of the grandest and most beautiful temples in Egypt. In 1965, they were moved!
Day 9 | Sunday, November 12, 2023 | Esna, Cruising the Nile River, Luxor
On today’s excursion, you’ll learn how the Temple of Esna also known the Temple of Khnum was buried under debris for many centuries and is one of the last great Egyptian temples ever built. Your Egyptologist guide will share all sorts of fascinating insights about this significant cultural site and show you the façade bearing the last known hieroglyphic inscriptions ever recorded in Egypt. Featured Excursion: Temple of Esna Khnum Later, savour the Nile’s majestic scenery as the ship cruises to Luxor.
Day 10 | Monday, November 13, 2023 | Luxor (Disembark), Fly to Cairo
Disembark in Luxor and transfer to the airport for your return flight to Cairo. Then, check in to the Nile Ritz Carlton where you’ll have time to relax before dinner. This evening we will enjoy a farewell dinner, before our last very busy full day of sightseeing.
Day 11 | Tuesday, November 14, 2023 | Cairo
It’s a day of more Bucket List Moments as we venture to Ancient Memphis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a number of amazing monuments to see—including the enigmatic Great Sphinx. You’ll have a thrilling opportunity to view the pyramids from an up-close perspective, the only way to fully appreciate their remarkable size and grandeur. Featured Excursion: Ancient Memphis sites, including the Pyramids of Giza with small pyramid entry, the Great Sphinx and Sakkara visit
Day 12 | Wednesday, November 15, 2023 | Depart Cairo
Check out of your hotel and transfer to the Cairo International Airport for your flight home.
