Dr. Ahmed has been a Family Physician since 1998 and obtained a Fellowship with the College of Family Physicians in 2016. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alberta with a dual appointment in the Departments of Family Medicine and Psychiatry. Dr. Ahmed works in a number of clinics in Edmonton. These include a Multi-disciplinary Primary Care clinic connected to the Edmonton Southside Primary Care Network and the Chokka Center for Integrative Health- assessing and treating adults in mental health. He is actively involved in teaching students, allied health care professionals and fellow physicians. He is also involved in program development for physicians at a local, regional and national level. Dr Ahmed is a current Executive Board member of CADDRA (Canadian ADHD Resource Alliance).

About The Speaker

Dr. Jeffrey Habert is an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto. He is also an Investigating Coroner for the City of Toronto and is Co-Editor of Canadian Primary Care Today (launched Q1 2023).

Dr. Habert is a former Peer Assessor for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (19 years). He has an interest in the use of clinical practice guidelines and has participated on committees to establish guidelines in the areas of Depression, Stroke, ASA in Primary Care and Thrombosis. He is the Previous co-chair of Thrombosis Canada Clinical Guides.

He is currently serving as a Co-Author for the 2023 CANMAT MDD Guidelines and has recently been invited to join the Dissemination and Implementation Steering Committee of Diabetes Canada for 2023-2024. Dr. Habert was recently awarded the Gerald S. Wong Award from Diabetes Canada for significant contributions to Diabetes. His clinical interests are varied, and include Diabetes, Obesity, Depression, ADHD, Insomnia, Thrombosis/Stroke, Lipids and Osteoporosis. He is also published in many of the previously mentioned areas in addition to others.

Dr. Habert is a national speaker in the multiple areas and actively participates on Scientific Committees involved in the creation of educational programs.

Eileen Rakovitch MD MSc FRCPC is a radiation oncologist, and an Associate Professor and Scientist at the Sunnybrook Research Institute. She is an Adjunct Scientist at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences and is the LC Campbell Research Chair in Breast Cancer Research. She has an active clinical practice and leads a research program that aims to improve the care of women with Ductal Carcinoma in Situ and to identify women with DCIS who are at greatest risk of developing invasive breast cancer.

Dr. Rakovitch is Director for the Cancer Program at Sunnybrook s Odette Cancer Centre and is the co co-chair of the Canadian Clinical Trials Group Breast Cancer Executive, which leads and contributes to clinical trials improving the treatment of breast cancer. The faculty have developed a program that will appeal to both family physicians and specialists. These programs are designed to be evidence based with interactivity and attendee participation is strongly encouraged. Dr. Ahmed’s Topics will include ADHD, Insomnia, Borderline Personality Disorder and Migraines. Dr. Habert will present topics that will include major mood disorder, insomnia, dyslipidemia diabetes, and obesity.
