Sexual Medicine & Primary Care

Sea Courses is pleased to invite you to a Continuing Medical Education program during a 7- Night Land CME in Jamaica from October  17 – 24, 2026. Dr.  Brynlea Barbeau and Dr. Ted Jablonski  are the faculty for this CME Program. They have developed  an educational  program that will be of interest to family physicians, specialists, and allied health professionals.   Dr. Barbeau is a family physician from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. She has worked in a variety of practice settings, with special interests in dermatology, palliative care as well as mental health.  More recently, she has had additional training and focus on Addiction Medicine, student and resident teaching and physician education.  Dr. Barbeau’s topics will include Adult ADHD, Alcohol and Opioid Use Disorder, Management of Mood Disorders and Physician Wellness.   Dr. Ted Jablonski is a veteran Sea Courses speaker, and  an award-winning family physician based in Calgary, Alberta. He is a sought-after speaker, trainer, media spokesperson and educator with many conferences, radio, television and video credits and published articles. Dr. Jablonski has been consulting in sexual and transgender medicine in Southern Alberta for more than two decades.  Dr. Jablonski’s topics will include the Basics of Transgender Medicine, Transgender Surgery, Men’s and Women’s Sexual Health and Hormone Therapy.   Dr. Barbeau and Dr. Jablonski are very much looking forward to seeing you in Jamaica.

1. Adult ADHD

• Identify adult ADHD in a family practice setting and to develop treatment strategies for those patients.

2. Alcohol-use disorder (AUD)

• Screen for AUD in family practice and to review medications and strategies use to treat AUD

3. Opioid-use disorder (OUD)

• Discuss the opioid epidemic, to identify OUD and discuss current treatment practices

4. Augmentation strategies for anxiety and depression

• Review the incidence and prevalence of anxiety and depression in primary care and to review augmentation strategies when first line approaches do not cause remission

5. Cannabis use disorder

• Review the definition, treatment strategies and discuss the impact of legalization in Canada

6. Physician wellness

• Provide an overview of physician health and wellness and to develop strategies to prevent physician burnout

1. Transforming your practice: The Basics of Transgender Medicine

• Define “transgender”, the basics of transgender medicine and its challenges
• Select appropriate language and terminology in LGBTQ+ population
• Outline some of the political and legal aspects of gender / gender markers

2. It’s All About the Hormones: A Review of Medical Transition 

• Recall the basic science underpinning feminizing and masculinizing gender hormonal transition
• Recall the pharmacologic options including dosing and routes of administration
• Plan an approach to prescribing cross sex hormones in the context of various medial co-morbidities

3. Give & Take: The Evolving World of Transgender Surgery

• Recall the surgical options available for FTM (Female to Male) transition
• Recognize the surgical options available for MTF (Male to Female) transition
• Identify the basics re public funding / private funding in Canada

4. What’s UP and COMING - Men’s Sexual Health Update 

• Plan an approach to Sexual Medicine in primary care / specialty medicine
• Manage key topics in Male sexual health
• Recall a few unique “what’s in the news / hot button” sexual health issues

5. Masculine Medicine – Putting the T Back in Testosterone

• Recognize symptomatic hypogonadism and its frequency
• Explore the approach to the diagnosis of Testosterone Deficiency Syndrome (TDS)
• Recall all Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) options, safety and appropriate follow –up

6. Getting interested and aroused - Women’s Sexual Health Update 

• Plan an approach to female sexual response and dysfunctions
• Manage key topics in Female sexual health
• Recall a few unique “what’s in the news / hot button” sexual health issues
