Dr. Deakon obtained his medical degree at the University of Ottawa in 1983. Subsequently did a surgical internship at Toronto General Hospital followed by an orthopaedic residency at the University of Ottawa. He completed a Fellowship in Arthroscopy and Knee Ligament Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Ottawa – Carleton Sports Medicine Clinic. He holds specialty certification in Orthopaedic Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. In private practice in Oakville, Ontario since 1989 and is an active staff member at Halton Healthcare Services-Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital site. Dr. Deakon is the Director at the  Oakville Sports Injury Clinic and the Orthopaedic surgeon for the 100th, 105th,109th and 111th Grey Cup winning Toronto Argonauts. He is the Orthopaedic surgeon for the York University Lions football team, Master instructor for the Arthroscopy Association of North America, Associate Clinical instructor McMaster University and Member of the Canadian Society of Medial Evaluators.

Discoveries Dining, the main restaurant presents elegant yet lively dining with a renewed décor befitting the culinary heart of our ships. Reservations are not required, and you have the choice of being seated at a table for two or as part of a larger group of fellow guests. There are two specialty restaurants Aqualina and Prime C. Aqualina exhibits contemporary, inventive Italian cuisine and features some of Italy’s most famous dishes. Prime C, offers a marvelous evening at this classic wood-paneled steakhouse with stunning views and lush autumn décor. Windows Café is primary spot for casual dining with indoor and outdoor  tables. Enjoy an intimate breakfast, lunch, or dinner for two or a lively meal for six with the flexible seating options. The Patio serves as a casual “pool grill” during the day and becomes transformed into a more sophisticated dining experience in the evening. The self serve Frozen yogurt station is a staple of the Patio and is available all day. Detailed Port Descriptions

Day 1        August 26                  Montreal, Quebec

Sometimes referred to as “The Paris of Canada”, Montreal is a vibrant cosmopolitan and bilingual city infused with Old World charm, and is renowned for its distinct neighborhoods, shopping, food, and nightlife. Today you will board Azamara Journey to start your adventure.  

Days 2-3  August 27&28                  Quebec City, Quebec

Founded in 1608, Quebec City is one of North America’s oldest cities, yet with its European charm, fabulous cuisine, and romantic atmosphere, it remains a popular destination for world travelers to this day.  

Day 4 August 29 Scenic Cruising Saguenay Fjord & Saguenay, Quebec

  Enjoy breath-taking views while cruising the scenic Saguenay Fjord in the early morning.   Spend the afternoon in Saguenay, Quebec. Situated along the banks of the St. Lawrence River, Saguenay is “where ocean and inland water meet”—an apt description since it’s surrounded by one of the longest fjords in the world and three national parks.  

Day 5 August 30 At Sea

  Spend the day sailing in style aboard your boutique hotel at sea. Indulge in a treatment at Sanctum Spa, stay ship shape with a class at our fitness center, or lounge the day away on our sunny pool deck. In the evening, savor inspired Italian cuisine at Aqualina, or relish in a classic steakhouse experience at Prime C. Plus, you’ll find plenty of exciting evening entertainment, from thrilling shows at Cabaret Lounge to intimate performances in the Living Room.  

Day 6 August 31 Havre-Saint-Pierre, Quebec

  Set in spectacular nature, there's no shortage of outdoor activities around Havre St. Pierre, from horse-riding, fishing, puffin and whale-watching or hiking to waterfalls that ebb from canyons. Learn the traditions of the indigenous Innu community.  

Days 7-9 September 1, 2 & 3 At Sea

Day 10 September 4 Nuuk (Godthaab), Greenland

  Explore the world's second-largest fjord system and marvel at towering icebergs. Immerse yourself in the pristine Arctic landscape, where you may encounter native wildlife such as humpback whales, seals, and arctic foxes.  

Day 11 September 5 Paamiut (Fredrikshaab), Greenland

  Immerse yourself in the ancient Inuit mode of transportation. Engage with local mushers, learn about their deep connection with their canine companions, and witness the awe-inspiring beauty of this city from a unique perspective on a dogsledding expedition.  

Day 12 September 6 Qaqortoq (Julianehaab), Greenland

  This town captivates visitors with vibrant street art adorning colorful buildings, celebrating Inuit culture. Nearby, discover the "Stone and Man" sculpture park, where granite artworks blend seamlessly with the stunning natural surroundings.  

Day 13 September 7 Prince Christian Sound, Greenland

  Enjoy cruising the beautiful Prince Christian Sound.  

Day 14 September 8 At Sea

 

Day 15 September 9 Grundarfjordur, Iceland

  Grundarfjörður is a haven for lovers of the great outdoors, where you’ll discover seemingly endless opportunities to go hiking, horseback riding, bird watching, fishing, or embark on a boat tour. Even a lunch overlooking the ocean is an adventure when you can catch a glimpse of the rich wildlife living off the coast — from orcas to puffins and white tailed eagles.  

Days 16 & 17 September 10 & 11 Reykjavik, Iceland

  Carved from fire and ice, Reykjavik is a city of contrasts at the edge of the world. Plus, its natural beauty is beyond breathtaking. After spending an overnight in Reykjavik, you will disembark Azamara Journey on September 11th.
