About The Speaker
Dr. Busato is an Otolaryngologist – Head and Neck Surgeon working in the bustling community of Vaughan just north of Toronto. His focus is on advanced endocrine surgery along with general ENT practice. He is the Deputy Chief of Otolaryngology at his sites of Mackenzie Health and Cortellucci Vaughan Hospitals and he is an active lecturer at the University of Toronto. He performed his residency at the University of Toronto and completed an esteemed fellowship in advanced endocrine surgery, head and neck surgical oncology, and reconstructive surgery at Sunnybrook and Mount Sinai Hospitals. His focus is on patient centered care and providing cutting edge care in a community setting.

About The Speaker
Dr. Robert Timothy Deakon obtained his medical degree from the University of Ottawa in 1983. He subsequently did a surgical internship at Toronto General Hospital followed by an orthopaedic residency at the University of Ottawa. He did his Fellowship in Arthroscopy and Knee Ligament Reconstructive Surgery and Sports Medicine at the University of Ottawa – Carleton Sports Medicine Clinic under the tuteledge of Dr. Donald H. Johnson. Dr. Deakon is licensed in the province of Ontario and holds specialty certification in Orthopaedic Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He has been in private practice in Oakville, Ontario since 1989. He is the director of the Oakville Sports Injury Clinic and is the team orthopaedic surgeon for the 100th, 105th, 109th and 111th Grey Cup winning Toronto Argonaut Football Clubs. He is a a member of the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. He holds an associate clinical teaching position at the McMaster University Division of Orthpaedic Surgery. Dr. Deakon’s practice is limited to the treatment of sports related knee injuries and osteoarthritis of the knee.

Dr. Gianmarco Busato is an Otolaryngologist - Head and Neck Surgeon working in Vaughan Ontario. His focus is on advanced endocrine surgery along with general ENT practice. For this CME Program, Dr. Busato’s topics will include Medical Conditions of the Ear and Nose, Vertigo and Thyroid Gland Disorders.
Dr. Deakon’s practice is focused on the treatment of knee conditions including knee trauma, knee osteoarthritis, and knee pain. During his practice in Oakville, he has performed over 5,000 anterior cruciate reconstructions and over 15,000 knee arthroscopies .Dr. Deakon is a member of The Arthroscopy Association of North America and has acted as a Master Instructor at their educational courses. He is a member of The International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports. Dr. Deakon is currently the Orthopaedic Surgeon for the 100th, 105th and 109th Grey Cup winning Toronto Argonaut Football club. Dr. Deakon’s Topics will include Acute and Chronic Knee Pain, Management of OA of the Knee, Orthopaedic referrals and the role of a Team Doctor.

Day 1 - Friday, November 20 Helsinki
Hei Helsinki! Your trip to Finland begins in the vibrant capital city of Helsinki. Transfer from Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport (HEL) to your hotel. This evening, gather with new friends for a welcome dinner in the city center. Hotel: Hotel Haven, Helsinki (D)
Day 2 - Saturday, November 21 Helsinki
Today after breakfast begin your CME sessions. Your afternoon will be at leisure. (B)
Day 3 - Sunday, November 22 Helsinki
Join a local expert for an engaging city tour. If Finland’s heart beats in Helsinki, then Helsinki’s core is the Empire-style Senate Square, home of the iconic Helsinki Cathedral. Take a 90-minute walking tour of the historic Tori Quarters before enjoying some free time in Market Square, the city’s famous international market. See the steel monument dedicated to the composer Sibelius. This afternoon, take time to explore more of Helsinki independently. (B)
Day 4 - Monday, November 23 Helsinki—Kakslauttanen
Escape to northernmost Finland’s winter wonderland on board a flight to Ivalo and magical Lapland. Like a storybook come to life, Lapland’s culture is steeped in myth and legend. Relish a sled ride with reindeer and unspoiled views of the northern lights. At the remote Kakslauttanen Resort, spend three nights in your very own Finnish log cabin with a glass igloo, indulging in your own personal Finnish sauna. Take the motor coach north toward Inari on a chase for the northern lights. Stops along the pursuit allow you the chance to witness nature’s dazzling, electric light show. Day 5 - Tuesday, November 24 Kakslauttanen
Hit the snow and mush yourself to breakfast aboard your own authentic Finnish sleigh. After a leisurely breakfast, meet Santa's elves, who will take you to meet Santa Claus in his own home. Learn about Santa’s origins during a warm and friendly conversation at his house. After dinner, under the Arctic moonlight, a reindeer farmer introduces you to some friendly Lappish reindeer. Set out on an exhilarating reindeer safari through remote Kakslauttanen. Then step inside a Lappish teepee, or kota, and sip warm berry juice (a Finnish tradition) around an open fire while gaining insight into the importance of reindeer herding to the Sámi indigenous culture. The search for the elusive northern lights continues in the surround of northern Finland’s wilderness. (B, D)
Day 6 - Wednesday, November 25 Kakslauttanen
Breathe in the fresh Arctic air this morning and step into the role as leader of your own dog sled team. Zoom through the wilderness on a husky safari, driving your husky guides that are as fast as they are adorable. Spend some time getting to know these amazing dogs and learn about their different commands. You’ll also be introduced to the equipment you’ll need to experience this incredible Arctic adventure at its best. This afternoon, experience the Planetarium show, in an incredible building on the property. Enjoy your last night in the heart of the Lappish wilderness, nestled in your incredible and unique glass igloo. You may even see the northern lights dancing overhead from the comfort of your own bed. (B, D)
Day 7 - Thursday, November 26 Kakslauttanen—Helsinki
Say goodbye to enchanting Lapland and fly back to Helsinki. Explore the city’s central squares and get in tune with the latest Finnish trends at a collection of charming shops. (B) Hotel: Hotel Haven, Helsinki
Day 8 - Friday, November 27 Helsinki
Enjoy the morning at leisure to explore the city’s central squares or the latest Finnish trends in charming shops. This afternoon, join your colleagues in CME from 2:00-6:00pm. Tonight, in downtown Helsinki, toast to grand adventures and new friends. (B, D)
Day 9 - Saturday, November 28 Helsinki
Today is the end of your Northern Lights of Finland tour. Ground transfer to Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport and set out for home with incredible memories and a longing to return to beautiful Finland. (B)
