Detailed Port Descriptions

Day 1: London (Tilbury), England, UK

Tilbury, UK, offers a unique glimpse into British maritime history and serves as a convenient gateway to London and Southeast England. The town is home to Tilbury Fort, a well-preserved 16th-century fortress with fascinating exhibits on England's military past and stunning views over the River Thames. History enthusiasts can also appreciate its connection to the departure of the Mayflower Pilgrims. Tilbury's strategic location makes it an ideal starting point for exploring nearby attractions, including the bustling city of London, just a short train ride away, or the picturesque Essex countryside. It’s a spot where history meets modern convenience.

Day 2: Amsterdam (Ijmuiden), Netherlands

Connected to the city of Amsterdam by road and rail, IJmuiden is a coastal town located in the Netherlands, specifically in the province of North Holland. It is situated at the entrance to the North Sea Canal and is known for its strategic maritime location. It's possible to reach Amsterdam in around 30-40 minutes by car or by train.

Day 3: Kiel Canal Cruising, Germany

Operating since 1895, Kiel Canal is the world’s busiest artificial waterway, linking the North Sea with the Baltic and cutting 250 miles off the journey by eliminating the need to sail around Jutland Peninsula.

Day 4: Warnemunde, Germany

Warnemunde is a seaside resort neighboring the red brick 800-year-old Hanseatic city of Rostock, and from here it’s possible to spend a day in Berlin, home to historic monuments and a revitalized city center.

Day 5: Ronne, Bornholm, Denmark

Boasting numerous picturesque fishing villages and medieval churches, the island of Bornholm and its capital city of Ronne appears to have gotten somewhat lost in the Baltic Sea between Sweden and Poland.

Day 6: Gdańsk, Poland

Gdańsk is a 1,000-year-old port city on the Baltic coast of Poland, which, together with the city of Gdynia and the town of Sopot, makes up the metropolitan area Trójmiasto otherwise known as “the Tricity”.

Day 7: Klaipėda, Lithuania

Walk the cobblestoned Old Town in Klaipėda and you’ll see its German heritage in the half-timbered architecture, beginning at Theatre Square where Hitler once spoke.

Day 8: Riga, Latvia

Riga’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site, its winding, wobbly lanes are beautiful to wander through.

Day 9: At Sea

Day 10: Tallinn, Estonia

While in Tallinn, visit St. Olav’s Church, once the tallest building in the world (at least until 1625); then pull up a chair at one of the cafés in the charming town square, heart of the city for 800 years.

Day 11: Helsinki, Finland

Helsinki is a blend of traditional and modern architecture and design, interwoven with the beauty of nature and a few quirky, purely Finnish touches—such as a church built inside a giant chunk of granite.

Day 12 & 13: Stockholm, Sweden

Lively, cosmopolitan Stockholm sports an appealing mix of modern Scandinavian architecture and trendy restaurants with fairytale palaces watched over by a Board of Beauty, responsible for preserving the city.

Day 14: At Sea

Day 15: Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen is known as a city of spires: The skyline of its medieval core is punctuated by the steeples of churches and towers of palaces, though a modern building boom has overtaken other parts of the city.
