About The Speaker

Dr. Gerald Levine graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1982 and the University of Toronto Family Medicine School in 1984. From 1985 to 2017 he ran his family medical practice in Barrie, Ontario, and has focused on stress management, burnout prevention and mindfulness facilitation since 2006.

He has conducted stress management/burnout prevention staff training for the Canadian Mental Health Association York Region, Canadian Mental Health Association Simcoe, York Support Services Network and Simcoe County Elementary Teachers Federation.

He has also hosted workshops on stress management/burnout prevention for many family practitioners and specialists, the General Practitioner Psychotherapy Association of Canada, Ontario Social Workers Association, Georgian Bay Cancer Support Network, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit and many more.

He has enjoyed being on faculty for a number of  CME Away trips and looks forward to this one!

Detailed Port Descriptions

Day 1                  Tokyo, Japan

As the largest metropolitan area in the world, Tokyo is an exciting city where a seemingly unlimited choice of shops, restaurants and museums sit in contrast with an array of temples, shrines and gardens. Today you will embark Azamara Pursuit on an incredible Pacific Adventure.  

Day 2                Oarai, Japan

Known for its picturesque beaches and seafood, Ōarai is a stunning mix of natural beauty, and cultural significance. From the beaches, to traditional Shinto sites, to some anime-inspired tourism, this coastal town is a unique and multifaceted destination.  

Day 3               Sendai, Miyagi, Japan

Sendai, the vibrant capital of Miyagi Prefecture, is known as the “City of Trees” and offers a mix of modern city life and rich history. As a cruise stop, it’s a gateway to scenic sights like Matsushima Bay—one of Japan’s most beautiful natural landscapes—and cultural treasures such as Zuihoden, the ornate mausoleum of samurai lord Date Masamune.  

Day 4               Miyako, Iwate, Japan

Miyako, located in Japan's Iwate Prefecture, is renowned for the dramatic cliffs and scenic coastline of Jodogahama Beach, offering stunning views and crystal-clear waters ideal for boat tours or swimming. The port is also a gateway to Rikuchu Kaigan National Park, where visitors can hike and admire the rugged beauty of Japan's northern coast.  

Day 5              Aomori, Japan

Sunny and refreshingly cool in the summer, lively and bustling during festival season and enjoyably sleepy in the way only the best seaside locations can be, this lovely city is worth a closer look.  

Day 6             Hakodate, Japan

Indulge your love of urban convenience and your desire for natural beauty in this city. From tastes to satisfy your cravings to hot springs and history, every spot and every season has something to offer.  

Days 7– 12   At Sea

Spend the day sailing in style aboard your boutique hotel at sea. Indulge in a treatment at Sanctum Spa, stay ship shape with a class at our fitness center, or lounge the day away on our sunny pool deck.In the evening, savor inspired Italian cuisine at Aqualina, or relish in a classic steakhouse experience at Prime C. Plus, you’ll find plenty of exciting evening entertainment, from thrilling shows at Cabaret Lounge to intimate performances in the Living Room.  

Day 13          Kodiak, Alaska

Kodiak, Alaska, is renowned for its stunning landscapes and rich wildlife, making it a prime destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Visitors can explore the rugged beauty of Kodiak Island by hiking the trails of the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge, home to the famous Kodiak brown bears. The town also boasts a vibrant fishing culture, and the local seafood is celebrated at the annual Kodiak Crab Festival, highlighting the community's deep connection to the ocean.  

Day 14           Seward, Alaska

Seward, Alaska, serves as a gateway to the Kenai Fjords National Park, where stunning glaciers and diverse marine life await exploration. Visitors can embark on scenic boat tours to witness calving glaciers and spot playful sea otters, seals, and even humpback whales.  

Day 15         Whittier, Alaska

Whittier, Alaska, is a unique gateway to the stunning Prince William Sound, known for its fjords and glacial landscapes. Visitors can explore the historic Whittier Tunnel, the longest tunnel in North America that connects the town to the outside world, or take a boat tour to see nearby glaciers and wildlife, including sea otters and puffins.  Today you will disembark and your Japan to Alaska Voyage will come to an end.
