About The Speaker

Dr. Macpherson graduated from University of Ottawa in 1985, interned at the Royal Columbian Hospital, spent three years as a medical officer at the National Defense Medical Centre in Ottawa, and eventually completed anaesthesia training at UBC in 1992.  She worked in Prince George, then Maple Ridge BC, with locum stints in Whitehorse YT and Mount Isa QLD, Australia.

 

In 2004, she returned to training as a PGY6 in Palliative Medicine at UBC and received a Diploma from the American Board of Hospice Palliative Medicine.  She has since practiced in Fraser Health (BC), Regina, Calgary, and even briefly returned to Whitehorse. She developed and helped present three palliative workshops in Ghana in 2013 and 2015 and subsequently did online teaching of the family practice residents for the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons.

She has been involved in teaching and/or developing clinical material for the Canadian Society of Palliative Medicine, Pallium Canada, Victoria Hospice, the BC Centre for Palliative Care, the UBC Division of Palliative Care, Fraser Health, and the Ridge Meadows Division of Family Practice.

Once Palliative Medicine was recognized as a subspecialty in Canada, she passed the first ever Royal College exams in November 2019.  The best studying was done while sipping fancy umbrella drinks in the South Pacific on a previous Sea Courses cruise.

Dr. Trinacty is originally from Nova Scotia, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree at Saint Francis Xavier University in Antigonish. She completed her medical degree at Dalhousie University. Dr. Trinacty completed residency in Internal Medicine and specialization in Endocrinology and Metabolism at The Ottawa Hospital. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine.

She practices at LMC Ottawa, Queensway Carleton Hospital and Bariatric Medical Institute. She is a consultant and affiliate researcher with Bruyere Continuing Care. She is presently a lecturer at the University of Ottawa. She also serves as Vice Chair of the Endocrinology Section for the OMA and is an editor of the journal Canadian Diabetes and Endocrinology Today.

Day 1 | May 15, 2026 | Vancouver, British Columbia

Among the world's most liveable cities - diverse, cultural, beautiful - this culinary capital treats you to fresh local seafood, farm-to-table produce, and authentic Asian flavors. West Coast architecture - modernism with a woodsy bent - emerged here. But while downtown shines with steel and glass, its epicenter is green Stanley Park, a 1,000-acre oasis of spectacular beaches, trails, and views. North of town, ride scenic Sea to Sky Highway along the coast and through the forest toward Whistler, 2,200 feet above sea level. On your way, behold lofty Shannon Falls and brave the heart-pounding Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge.

You've never tasted salmon so fresh. Known as the 'Salmon Capital of the World', Ketchikan is also the ancestral home of the Tlingit people, who have carved the world's largest collection of totem poles. If you're up for an adventure, take a canoe and nature trail excursion through the rain forest or a wilderness exploration followed by a sumptuous crab feast you'll long remember.

Here's your chance to take a glacial dogsled adventure in Alaska's capital, where cultured sophistication meets the ruggedness of the Last Frontier.

Day 5 | May 19, 2026 | Skagway, Alaska

The great Klondike Gold Rush lives on in Skagway's charming downtown of restored 19th-century buildings and its historic railway. Located on the edge of the wilderness, this small town saw its fair share of gold rush, get rich dreamers pass through. Today, it’s residents are more than welcome to share the stories of its untamed past. And there’s so much fascinating history to uncover on a Skagway cruise. Head to Klondike Gold Rush National Park Museum for an in-depth look at Klondike and the two routes out of Skagway – Chilkoot Pass and White Pass. From the vintage train, admire the mountains and see the 1898 trail that fortune seekers traveled on foot. The White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad runs the vintage locomotives through the famously steep Chilkoot Trail and offers sweeping mountain views during its climb toward Canada.

Day 6 | May 20, 2026 | Endicott Arm-Cruising

Alaska’s Endicott Arm Fjord marks the southern edge of the 653,179-acre Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness area. As you sail through its 30-mile-long stretch, you can’t help but be amazed by the untouched beauty of the surrounding granite mountains, verdant valleys and numerous waterfalls. Drifting icebergs, deep blue waters and a spectacular tidewater glacier only add to this natural spectacle’s appeal. Endicott Arm is one of the largest breeding grounds for harbor seals on the planet. Keep your eyes open for these creatures splashing in icy waters near the ship or floating with their pups on giant chunks of ice. Along the shore you might also glimpse brown bears, bald eagles, sea ducks, deer, moose and wolves. Your journey through scenic Endicott Arm Fjord ends with a front-row view of the striking Dawes Glacier. Standing over 600 feet tall and a half-mile wide, this very active icecap is known for its spectacular calving displays which noisily produce huge, chunky icebergs that float in area waters. Remember to dress in wind-resistant layers for viewing scenery outside on deck.

Day 8 | May 22, 2026 | Seattle, Washington

Today you will disembark Celebrity Edge. Visitors to the Emerald City find a fusion of American, Asian and Native American cultures, set against a backdrop of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. There’s so much to discover on Seattle cruises. Founded in the 1850’s, Seattle continues to evolve while preserving many of its treasured landmarks. The city’s defining modern symbol is the Space Needle. Head up to the top of the 605ft. hourglass-shaped structure for amazing panoramic views of this beautiful port city. And right next door is the Chihuly Garden and Glass where the extraordinary glassworks and garden installations of Dale Chihuly will dazzle. Stroll through the famous Pike Place Market for a taste of local flavor and style.
