SUBSTANCE ABUSE DISORDERS & RESPIROLOGY

Dr. Lisa Bromley and Dr. Alan Kaplan are the Faculty for this CME Conference. This educational program will be highly interactive and of interest to family physicians, specialists, and allied health professionals. Dr. Lisa Bromley is an Assistant Professor with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, and Medical Director of The Ottawa Hospital Substance Use Program. She works in both the inpatient and community settings.  Dr. Bromley provides low-barrier Opioid Agonist Treatment in the RAAM clinic at Sandy Hill CHC in Ottawa, and Addiction Medicine Consultation services for inpatients at TOH. She has been a methadone prescriber since 2001. For this CME program, Dr. Bromley will discuss  Opioid Prescribing for Chronic Pain, Opioid Use Disorder, Alcohol Use Disorder, Sedative-Hypnotic Disorder and Motivational Interviewing.   Dr. Alan Kaplan is a Family Physician, Chronic pain community consultant and a community respiratory consultant practicing in Aurora, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Kaplan is Chairperson of the Family Physician Airways Group of Canada (www.fpagc.com) Scientific Committee GINA (Global Initiative for Asthma). He is a member of Past Canadian Consensus Guidelines for H pylori, Asthma, COPD and Sinusitis Member of the Health Canada Section on Allergy and Respiratory Therapies.  Dr. Kaplan is the international editor for Nature’s Primary Care Respiratory Journal and  he is Author of 278 newsletter articles, 201 peer reviewed articles and 150 conference abstracts.  For this program, Dr. Kaplan’s topics will include Allergic Rhinitis, Asthma, Bronchiectasis, Chronic Cough, COPD and Vaccination.
