Dr. Friedman is a Consultant Psychiatrist and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
His clinical work involved the management of the complete range of psychiatric disorders. Dr. Friedman has had particular responsibility for General Hospital patients and therefore managed patients with physical disorders including complex pain patients, post-traumatic stress disorder, neuropsychiatry, chronic fatigue syndrome, patients with unexplained physical symptoms and the perinatal psychiatry service. He has published over 60 research papers and other chapters in books and journals.
Dr. Friedman was appointed Chair of the organisation overseeing all health service research in the Midlands area of the UK. He has held a number of other positions including Secretary of Liaison Psychiatry Executive at the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Dr. Friedman has been a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Continuing Professional Development committee; chaired the joint committee with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and membership of other subcommittees. He has been secretary of the International Society for Mental Illness Associated with Childbirth, is a Special Medical Visitor for the UK Court of Protection and has an active medicolegal practice including complex neuropsychiatry case involving traumatic brain injury.
