Ron Dawick - Your Concierge, CME AWAY by Sea Courses Owner & President

Ron has spent his entire career in the travel business. His experience includes holding senior executive positions at airlines, tour operators and retail travel companies.

Born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario, Ron attended the University of Waterloo where he graduated with a B. Math degree and an Hons. B.A. in Economics. After university, he moved to London, England for his first travel job. His experience includes companies like Britannia Airways (UK), Wardair Canada and Thomson Vacations. In 1989, Ron acquired Adventure House Travel in Oakville, Ontario and has built the business through growth and acquisition into one of the country’s most respected travel firms. The companies can boast many awards for sales and personal achievements of the experienced staff.

Ron and Sea Courses joined forces in 2015. He recognized the unique nature of the business and welcomed the opportunity to build on its success. In the past two years, not only has the company expanded its cruise offerings, but under Ron’s direction has added resort and land tours, giving Sea Courses the most complete array of CME AWAY opportunities for physicians.

Ron lives in Burlington with his wife Heather. His four children and 11 grandchildren help use up any non-working hours.

Ian Hannah - Wine Expert

Born and raised in the York Mills area of Toronto, Ian studied at the University of Waterloo from 1973 to 1977 where he met his wife Marit – they were married in 1979.

In 1978 Ian and his father, John, founded wine and spirit importing company, John Hanna & Sons Ltd, which is today one the oldest and most respected family-owned wine importers in Canada - working with many of the world’s most renowned producers.

Ian spent much of the 1980’s and 90’s as resident wine commentator for Standard Broadcasting on the CKFM 99.9 newsmagazine show, Hour Toronto. He was also a regular contributor on CFRB and CBC radio.

In 1991, Ian, Bill Redelmeier and Derek Barnett created Southbrook Farms Winery in Richmond Hill. Now located in Niagara, Southbrook is Canada’s first biodynamic vineyard and winery.

In 1998, Ian and Marit purchased a 125 acre farm in Prince Edward County where they planted 30,000 grape vines. They developed their vineyard over the next 12 years, eventually selling it in 2010.

Ian has conducted hundreds of wine / dinner tastings and whisky nosings over the past 35 years during which time he has gained an unrivalled reputation for his knowledge and understanding of grape and grain which he loves to share with others.
